Diveregent

In "Diveregent" by Veronica Roth, Tris is faced with lots of hard challenges.

One is that she is changing factions which means that she will have to change all of her beliefs. When she changes from abnegation to dauntless, she has major trouble but her mom makes that change. She is divergent so she knows when she is being tested. She has help from her mom because her mom is secretly divergent and know what it feels like.

Another difficult challenge is that in her second part of initiation is the emotional loss. She knows that she is being tested yet it simulates that she is loosing someone in a very traumatic way. Her and 4 stick together throughout the whole book but he is divergent as well.

The last challenge is that she is tested with a fear landscape, she knows that she is being tested yet it is so horrible that she is so scared. She overcomes 7 fears and she is happy about it, she becomes dauntless fair and square. But in the end Erudite want to take over dauntless and it breaks out in all war.

Snowden

I just read the article about, Edward Snowden. I had heard about what the NSA had been doing with the information that they had been getting from our daily activities, email, our regular searches, facebook and more. Luckily Edward Snowden revealed all that to the public. Some call him hero, but some call him a criminal.

In my opinion I really think that he is a hero, he revealed to the public that the NSA has been monitoring all the things that we do at this very moment. By you looking at this the NSA is watching you look at this. I feel as if Snowden really wanted to expose the real NSA. The people who think that he is a criminal is saying that people want no privacy. I think that Snowden did the right thing, he showed the public that we have no privacy behind our locked doors.

Overall I think that people can see that he is a hero, he wanted to show that people have no privacy ever, our computers are our worst nightmare.

Poem

America, "She thinks into my throat with her tigers tooth, stealing my breath of life." A great way to describe the pain of immigration into America. "America" a great poem by Claude McKay. This is a poem that describes the hardships and the great things about America. One theme in the poem is that it is hard for immigrants to make it in America.

“Sinks into my neck with her tigers tooth stealing my breath of life”.  

I think that the author is trying to show that it is so hard for him to make it in America. He is also saying that he can’t take it any more. I think that the author is describing immigration in this line itself.

I think that the author definitely wants to show you the good sides and the bad sides. For example when he says, “I loved this cultured hell that tests my youth.” I think that he is trying to say that even though it is hard he likes the hardships of the whole thing. I think that the author is trying to express that even though some people will have it tough. It can all work out eventually.

I think that the author has very mixed feelings about America. This is shown in many ways, the good sides and the bad sides. But it is like he wants you to be sad for him but then be happy. I think that he like America even though in the poem it had given the speaker troubles, good times and had treated him badly.

I think that one theme in the poem is that it is hard for immigrants to make it in America. I think that overall I showed what the author was trying to say that there is good and bad sides to America overall.

Monday Muses

In the song "Paranoid Android", he says "What's there". He is definitely paranoid. He wants all the "voices in his head to stop the noise hes trying to get some rest". this shows how paranoid he is.

Another example is,"Standing on a bridge, ray down on me from my grave to heaven god loves all his children". This shows how he wants to die. I think that he wants to die because he is so paranoid.

Overall the song is about paranoia and that everyone has a daily routine. So he becomes a paranoid android.

American Born Chinese

In “American Born Chinese” Jin-Wang is an American born  Chinese, in just the opening page he is stereotyped as coming all the way from China, he is from San Francisco. This is just one of the ways that Jin gets stereotyped.

One way is that in class a kid raised his hand, the teacher picks on him and he says, “My momma told me that Chinese people eat dogs”. This made Jin put his head in shame, at that moment he hated being a minority. In the next strip the teacher says “No Tommy i’m sure Jin doesn’t do that, actually i’m sure Jins family probably stopped that sort of thing when they moved to America. Jin is ashamed of his nationality.

The second thing is that, when it comes to lunch time, Jin eats dumplings, some kids had never seen that. One kid came up to him and said, “what are those”? Jin says,”Dumplings” and the kid says,”Oh ok don’t eat my dog”. Jin hates his life and can’t stand being a minority.

Overall there is so much stereotyping in the world and I think that this book shows it overall.

Upfront

In the article "Whats The Deal With Iran" I think that they talk about the two different types of people in Iran. The people who like america, but also the people who hate it.

The people of Iran actually like half the things that Americans have made. They show that Iranians like the freedom that Americans represent and that they really like our products and ethics. The Iranians that are very racist toward to the Americans refuse to not use any of the American ethic toward life. They think that Americans are planning a nuclear bombing. This is just another stereotyping.

In conclusion there are a lot of stereotyping toward american but a lot of people who don't agree with that, stereotyping, it is bad.

People that we couldn't hear from

I think the there peoples perspectives missing from the text of the book the man who thought different Steve Jobs. One of them is Steve Wozniak another, one of the workers of Apple.

Steve Wozniak shows strong emotions about Steve Jobs. Wise ass always talks about how Steve was very emotional and precise about his work. I think that Wozniak could've showed a lot of different perspectives on Steve's work life. Steve also talked about how he was kind of rude to him and took his ideas and took credit for them. Wozniak has strong opinions on Steve Jobs work ethic and precision in his work.

I think that the workers of apple. could've showed a lot of things that we didn't get to see about Steve Jobs. A lot of the employees of Apple said that Steve Jobs was very rude to them and that he could've helped them but instead tried to do everything himself. A lot of people had strong opinions on Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs is very kind man said a lot of the workers but he is to confident in his work and things that is the best. Steve Jobs fired a lot of people because he thought that they were not working as hard as they could but in reality he just had very high expectations. Overall the workers had mixed feelings about jobs but they like their experience at the Apple company.

In conclusion jobs was a very mixed method but they could've had different perspectives of characters that we didn't get to sit in the book.

I think that in the video she shows a lot of emotions sadness, happiness, and joy.

I think that she shows sadness because she says a lot of thing how her father was depressed and how he would listen to the radio all the time. She tells he audience how how he would always talk about how you shouldn't go to school in disguise. She talks about how you shouldn't be able not to go to the school.

I think that she shows joy when she talks about how she was happy that she had the privilege to go to school. I think that she was so happy that her mom became a teacher and she had the right to do school work. I think that she thought that all of her friends should have had the right to go to school.

I think that she thought it should be a law that you should go to school and be taught. I think that every one has the right to be taught, in her opinion.

In conclusion I think that you should really be have the right, t should be a law that you have to go to school.

In my book “Steve Jobs The Man Who Thought Different” the overall theme of the book is that one small idea can lead to a big journey. I think that there is three reasons why the book shows this.

First, the company, Apple, started in a garage. I think that this just shows how it was completely, a kids dream that spiraled. At first Apple only had one computer and they only made sixty, they sold them to one small store, and then they sold them. Steve Jobs told the store manager that he would be quite interested in their second model of Apple computer. Their second computer was called the Apple 2, this “revolutionized the computing industry.

The second reason is that they created an office space and hired people. The Apple 2 had been the first all-in-one computer, it was amazing. Apple then tried to expand their computer selection. Steve Jobs, created the, Apple office and hired hundreds of people. The company was in demand, and everyone wanted to work for Apple.

Third, People today still use Apple products, everyday. Today, Apple is one of the lead computer, and software companies on the planet. In my opinion, on every block that I walk on I see at least one person with an iPhone, even I have one. Apple has expanded all over the world and they have created new products. Apple products are still in demand, and they always go out of stock on the first day.

In conclusion, Apple has grown, from a kids dream, to a huge leading company for people today.

Should “Lord Of The Flies” by William Golding, be banned from our public school, or public libraries? I do not think that it should be banned, literature, is a great thing. To ban it is a horrible thing. You can’t ban books, it's like banning words, or the english language, literature is a privilege, we should keep it.  

My first reason is that, “Lord Of The Flies, this is one of the best books on the planet, I just finished it, and It was gory but I still love it”.  I think that this 9th grader named, Sarah Michaels, is showing that the book is gory, but it teaches so many lessons and different ways that kids work together. I think that she is trying to say that even though it was bloody, or graphic, it has important lessons, like how to survive you have to work together. When she says that this is one of the best books, well I just read it. From my perspective, I loved it. I think that she says everything in a summary why the book should not be banned.

My second reason is coming from, Phil Rivers he says, “ I think that it should be taught in schools, it is just human nature, with a realistic outcome”. I strongly agree with him, the book is very realistic, and shows things that would probably happen. I think that he brings up very good points. I think that especially during World War II, this was a horrible time and that these kids went crazy. I think that his point is very valid. The book shows real life experiences, that have definitely happened before.  I think that this book shows a lot of real life experiences during this time period.

There are reasons why the book should be banned, for instance on page 156, “ as they smashed Simon with rocks, the blood dripped out and ran to sea in the darkness”. I think that this is one of the more gruesome parts in the book. I think that even though it is a real life situation the author shouldn’t have to be so dark with his writing. The author should think about the readers and audience of the book. On the other hand, it was written in the early fifties, the war had just ended and he wanted to express himself.

In conclusion, the book should not be banned from middle school and public libraries, literature is a privilege to have and you should be able to express it in anyway that you want. I think that people can handle this book and that it should not be banned.

My Monday muses is on the song creep , the song shows his hatred for the world and that he tell the listener  that ever if you're different you're perfect.

My first example is when he says, “I’m a creep , I’m a weirdo, what the hell am I doing here, I don’t belong here.” I think that this shows all of his feeling on himself and others.  I think that he is saying that he shouldn't be here. In the song he is very emotional and is upset with himself.

My second detail is that in the end of the song he doesn't even say, the ending line he quits. I think that  shows that he is done with this world. The ending of the line shows that he is completely done with his life. I think that even though he wants himself to be perfect he realizes that he can’t.

The song shows great emotion and love for being perfect.

In the book "Children Of The Mind" you still get those same emotions from Ender in the first three books but they are stronger. The theme of "Children Of The Mind" is that jealousy is everywhere, and can affect you life in many ways.

    

The first way that jealousy is everywhere and can affect your life, is that when Peter says to Ender, "I'm going to kill your son, your eldest son, out of my hate jealousy, love and hate for you." This shows that Peter is definitely affected by Ender being picked first, and that him having kids that got picked before Peters kids. This also shows how much Peter has mixed emotions for Ender and his family. Peter is very sensitive to the subject as well, in the book he hates when people bring up the issue or topic of ender. Ender is very conceded, in my opinion and is very full of himself and his kids, especially. Ender and Peter have a very love, hate relationship.

My second reason is that “How come Peter got all the attention, I was always the underdog.” This shows that there is jealousy everywhere. This also shows how conceded he is, Ender did always got the attention but he doesn’t want it. Peter feels that he is very excluded in my opinion. Ender in the 4th book of the series, looks back on his life and I think that he realizes that he was very selfish when he was younger.

   In conclusion Ender has a lot of issues with his life, in the past, and in the future. Jealousy is everywhere.

Enders Feelings And Thoughts

     In my book "Enders Game" my character shows great emotion in my book. Ender is very emotionally unstable in my opinion. When Ender has kids and thinks that they are going to be just like him but what he doesn't know is that he was the best soldier there has ever been. 

     Ender has one brother who is so jealous of Ender that he is willing to kill the human race. Ender sends his kids to kill Peter but he captures them and kills one of them. Ender goes crazy starts trying to kill himself and all of his pride goes away. He thinks that he was the worst at being a father. Ender takes out all of his anger on himself. Ender decides to go kill peter himself. Peter catches Ender and says, " Ender its not that I hate you, its that, well I thought that I would get picked for battle school first but little thirdy did. I loved you, love you but you don't deserve what you got" I think that this shows how Peter thinks that life shouldn't come to you as easily as it did to Ender. 

    I think that my character is very confused that his life was fed to him like baby food, he was very clueless and now he is starting to realize that from his brothers jealousy. 

My Summer Reading Review On Bud Not Buddy

     For my summer reading I read a book on the great depression, it was called "Bud Not Buddy" by Christopher Paul Curtis. I really enjoyed this book, it helped me realize how the great depression effected so many people, in their jobs, and their everyday lives. There were so many people who had everything before the great depression but then it happened and they had nothing, no money, no nothing. 

     In my book, Bud had no money and his mom had died. For the first half of the book he complains about how his dad had abandoned him and should have been there for him. The book takes you through the different types, and levels of poverty. At one point Bud and his friend sleep in a Hoover town. In my opinion this really shows that people had no money. 
      Bud is very defensive about his father. He doesn't show any fear through out the whole book, he is a real fighter and even though he is not real he is tougher than all the kids today. 

      I think that this is a very important book to read about both, history and self respect. Bud does not only show his will to get to his destination, but to keep fighting no matter what the circumstances. I think that it is important to learn about people in general and how people survived. Bud is a great example of that. In my opinion this book is not just a fun read but also an important one to learn about the great depression. 

       That is my review on "Bud Not Buddy"
